Critical Role’s Daggerheart TTRPG just received a major new expansion and players can now explore a ton of new character options, including four additional classes.
The Witch and Three Other Classes Join Daggerheart Character Classes
Dungeons and Dragons may still be the system used for the main Critical Role campaign, but the brand has expanded in recent years and the team at Darrington Press launched its own TTRPG system in 2025 with the Daggerheart Core Rulebook.
The Daggerheart game has managed to cultivate its own playerbase over its first year and the first major rules expansion is now available for fans to explore.
The Hope and Fear expansion is full of new content for both players and GMs. The biggest highlight for many players will likely be all of the additional character creation options that come along with the new classes and subclasses.
Daggerheart: Hope and Fear adds the following classes to the game (each with two unique subclasses):
- Witch
- Moon Witch subclass – Embody celestial power to amplify your magic
- Hedge Witch subclass – Use your craft to empower yourself and your party
- Warlock
- Pact of the Endless subclass – Stand strong against enemies and avoid death
- Pact of the Wrathful subclass – Destroy those who act against you
- Brawler
- Juggernaut subclass – Pulverize your opponent with crushing blows
- Martial Artist subclass – Use a variety of fighting styles to eliminate your foes
- Assassin
- Executioner’s Guild subclass – Strike down your targets with lethal precision
- Poisoner’s Guild subclass – Debilitate your targets with punishing afflictions
Additionally, the book also includes:
- 30+ new adversaries and 28 environments, plus a rip pad of blank adversary sheets to help you easily create your own
- 100+ weapons, armor, item, and consumable options
- 4 new Campaign Frames introducing new worlds and settings for you to explore
Shoppers have a few different options for picking up the Hope and Fear materials. The The Physical Edition includes the physical book and cards in a slipcover set, as well as PDF of the book and cards.
The PDF Edition includes a PDF of the book and cards in both full-art and printer-friendly versions. There is also a Daggerheart Nexus Edition available from Demiplane. When shoppers order the Hope & Fear Daggerheart Nexus standalone or in a bundle, you’ll receive a code by email that will unlock access on Demiplane.
