President Donald Trump stumbled over his words Saturday morning as he heaped insults on CNN and MS NOW — and contradicted himself in the process.
Trump’s random and rambling Truth Social post targeted both cable news outlets with claims that their ratings were tanking.
“CNN is in a DEATH SPIRAL,” Trump wrote, “and so is MSNOW, the new name for MSDNC — Literally, nobody is watching either Network!”
These angry insults arrived on the heels of an on-air interview on MS NOW with New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, where she fired back at Trump’s attack from the previous day.
Haberman addressed Trump’s critical response to her reporting on a New York City-born president’s decision to skip the upcoming 9/11 memorial at Ground Zero.
“That’s objectively news,” said Haberman. “It wasn’t going to stay secret.”
Trump replied in his social media post, “Literally, nobody is watching either Network!”
But as Trump’s own words revealed, this was objectively false. At least one person appears to be watching regularly: Trump, himself.
Trump proceeded to heap praise on CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten, whose reporting he appeared to be well acquainted with.
“The best person on CNN is Pollster Harry Enten, because he was willing to show that Donald J. Trump is six times more popular than Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, or any other President,” Trump wrote. “He’s got Credibility (Don’t fire him!)”
