California has by far the worst election system in the United States. No other state is close. The arrest of Darwin Jonathan Rivera Flores is a rare bright spot in an otherwise festering mess of election administration in California.
Flores isn’t alone. Sanctuary cities have been documented as centers of alien registration and voting. Flores lives in the San Fernando Valley, and Los Angeles is one the easiest places in the nation for aliens to register and vote.
Los Angeles is a sanctuary city, by law. The Los Angeles City Council passed a law to become lawless. Aliens call it home in numbers you wouldn’t find in red-state cities like Miami and Tampa.
I have reviewed voter registration forms in California where aliens like Flores admit they are not citizens. Some leave the citizenship question blank, but are still registered to vote.
Consider R. Picos from San Diego. He left the citizenship question blank on his registration form. He was registered anyhow. Picos voted illegally in presidential and gubernatorial elections from 1998 to 2008.
Sometimes aliens admit to California election officials they are not citizens but are registered to vote anyhow. According to public records obtained by the Public Interest Legal Foundation, D. Rodriguez was registered to vote in California even though he plainly answered “NO” to the question “Are you a United States Citizen?”
These are not one-offs. Flores, Picos and Rodriguez are not anomalies. They are normal in California.
California has mastered the art of voters never being within a mile of an election official. All of the criminality and administrative mayhem is done from a distance. Third-party groups and self-described “Chicano activists” prowl the neighborhoods with clipboards seeking to register “Mexicanos.”
The activists deliver stacks of paper registration forms to election offices where evidently officials don’t pay much attention to the citizenship question.
It gets worse.
California has chosen the worst system of election administration.
California is an automatic registration state. That means at the California DMV, adults getting drivers licenses are automatically registered to vote. Adults are shoved onto voter rolls when they touch California government services.
Election administration in California is sloppy and lax, and California Secretary of State Shirley Weber knows it.
She received a letter from me documenting 95,000 likely dead registrants, 57,000 interstate duplicates, and 3,000 same address duplicates. Her voter rolls are infested with missing information, also, like missing birthdates.
The response from Secretary Weber? Nothing.
It gets worse. On top of this wretched mess, California has automatic mail voting.
Every alien and dead person is sent a mail ballot. Those registered more than once get two ballots, or three, or more. Some of those ballots are voted by someone other than the voter because there is no verification process.
The arrest of Darwin Jonathan Rivera Flores is good news. But election administration in California is in such a state of disaster, it will take dozens, or hundreds, more arrests to begin the process of restoring competence and confidence.
