One of the biggest rappers working today finds himself in some hot water. News in Dallas and Fort Worth reported BigXthaPlug getting arrested by local authorities. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, marijuana possession, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Currently, there are no additional details that lend context to what led to his arrest.
We do know that he was slated to perform at the Country Rising Festival on the same day he got arrested. The rapper born Xavier Darnell Landum pulled out due to a “personal emergency.”
“The Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball club and Blue Cross park understand the disappointment and frustration surrounding the absence of BigXthaPlug from the Country Rising Festival,” they wrote in a statement. “Country Rising festival is an independently promoted event being held at Blue Cross Park. The ballpark is serving as the hose venue only and is not responsible for the event’s programming, artist bookings, scheduling, or related decisions. As the host venue, we share the disappointment and frustration felt by those in attendance.”
The Dallas MC was actually arrested on the same exact date a year prior. Moreover, he was charged with the same offenses, except for driving while intoxicated. He was celebrating the release of his album I Hope You’re Happy that day. It was his second arrest that year, with one in Arlington back in February 2025. However, those charges were eventually dismissed.

Additionally, Country Rising Festival might not be the only fest without their big-name performer. Currently, showrunners behind the Iowa State Fair aren’t certain if BigXthaPlug will need to cancel as well. His agent at least believes that they can honor their commitment with no problems. “We are in communication with his agent and at this time, we have been told he will still be performing,” spokesperson Mindy Williamson said.
BigXthaPlug is best known for smash hits like “Texas” and crossover country hits with Bailey Zimmerman. For him, entering country music was the easiest thing he could do because the industry already warmly embraced him.
“I made a song called ‘Texas.’ That’s what opened the doors. After that, I started getting Luke Combs telling me I’m his favorite rap artist, and then you got Morgan Wallen pulling up to my shows just to tell me, ‘Hey, you’re doing a great job, I appreciate what you do,’” BigXthaPlug recalled to the New York Times.
“Morgan Wallen, I didn’t know at the time. But my team literally described him as the Drake of country. I had to find out who Shaboozey was, you know what I’m saying? That’s the homie now, one of my best friends in the industry. And so I go do a Billboard interview and I straight up say, ‘I got a country project on the way.’”
