GOP nominee swears he’s not selling campaign merch — one detail blew up his denial

Questions swirled on Thursday after a GOP nominee denied selling online merchandise to support his campaign, a claim that seems to be unsupported by the evidence one journalist dug up.

Victor Marx, the GOP gubernatorial nominee in Colorado, recently denied any connection to what he described as a “third-party seller” selling merchandise featuring his campaign logos. Journalist Kyle Clark with local news station 9News wrote on X that “we don’t know if it’s Marx himself, Marx’s family, or someone else” who is profiting from the sales.

Marx’s denials don’t seem to hold much weight, according to Clark, because of several suspicious details.

For instance, the merchandise sells an opportunity to meet Marx in person. A $1,299 bundle posted on the website includes a meeting with the candidate.

“Marx’s campaign finance attorney told conservative talk radio this morning that someone else keeps the proceeds. Who?” Clark wrote on X.

Clark also noticed something curious after he purchased some merchandise from the campaign website.

“Also worth noting that when we made a test purchase from the Marx merch site, we were not charged sales tax (common for a campaign, odd for a third-party retail store),” Clark wrote on X. “The item came in an envelope hand-labeled ‘Victor Marx campaign.’”

He also mentioned that some of the language Marx’s daughter Brie has used about the merchandise suggests that she could be behind the operation.

“In online posts, Marx’s daughter Brie uses language suggesting she is running the operation,” Clark posted.

So who is the mystery third party profiting off the merch store promoted by Victor Marx and his campaign? Marx himself? His family? His ministry?
