Julia Fox to make directing debut with ‘gritty’ coming-of-age movie set in NYC

The fox is out of the bag.

Downtown it girl Julia Fox is directing her first feature film, we hear.

The fashion darling, self-proclaimed muse and erstwhile dominatrix shot to fame as an actress in “Uncut Gems,” and she’s also directed a short.

But now she’s set to make her full-length debut behind the camera with “Sixth Avenue Saints,” which she also wrote.

The film is a period piece set in 1993, against the gritty, pre-gentrified streets of Brooklyn and Downtown Manhattan and tells the story of Luan, a sensitive 12-year-old growing up in a fractured household in Coney Island.

Frankie, a fearless homeless street kid surviving downtown on his own, introduces Luan to a hidden side of New York — the piers, queer street life, hustlers, sex workers, junkies and other outsiders living on the margins of the city, according to the production.

The flick is already casting for extras, posting ads for locals to bring authentic “Brooklyn/NYC vibes” to the film.

She’s looking for and adults ages 35 to 79 and paying $20 an hour, with a $100 minimum per day guaranteed, according to industry site Backstage.

Professional acting experience isn’t required, according to 25 Casting agent Katya Chernetsova.

This is Fox’s first time directing, but not writing. She is famous for her memoir “Down the Drain,” which was released in 2023. Simon & Schuster

Fox, 36, became a breakout star with her 2019 film debut in the Safdie brothers’ “Uncut Gems,” opposite Adam Sandler.

She has since built a career spanning acting, modeling, writing and fashion, becoming one of pop culture’s most recognizable downtown personalities.

In 2021 she wrote and directed a short film, “Fantasy Girls,” about sex workers in Nevada.

Fox has not responded to Page Six.
