NYC’s DSA chapter may just be the whitest party in the entire city

By its own count, the New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America is almost twice as white as Gotham overall.

Were that any other outfit, the DSA would be screaming for emergency DEI measures.

Some 60% of the commie-lite crew are “people of pallor” vs. just 31% of the city, and the gap may well be worse: The DSA figure is only on self-reported info.

Just about any photo of an actual DSA gathering suggests the serious membership is even whiter than that.

Voting data bear it out: City DSA candidates overperform with more affluent white voters in Democratic primaries, from Mayor Zohran Mamdani last year to Darializa Avila Chevalier, the carpetbagging Castroite who this year unseated Rep. Adriano Espaillat in large part by activating the gentrifier vote in his upper Manhattan district.

In short, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards had a point when he chided the DSA for “white supremacy”: It is dominated by rich, whiny white kids running roughshod over the actual priorities of the marginalized people they claim to care about.

So whenever Mamdani or his apparatchiks like tenant-protection czar Cea Weaver start blathering about systemic racism and equity, remember the DSA’s own separate-and-unequal nature.

In reality, the DSA’s “populist” appeal is all in its members’ ideology-soaked heads: Even in deep-blue New York state, it only notches 30% support from all voters, per a new Siena poll — and that number plummets to 16% in the suburbs.

Democratic Socialism, in short, is the politics of the privileged — and its supporters’ belief to the contrary, ironically, is just an epic bit of false consciousness.
