  • Elon Musk is bullish on AI bringing lots of cash into SpaceX in the near future.
  • He said revenue from AI would outpace all other SpaceX revenue by next month.
  • The executive also said that Grok would be trained on all SpaceX information, including its employees.

Elon Musk has predicted that AI will earn SpaceX more money than its other offerings.

On Tuesday, SpaceX posted a 30-minute all-hands recording on X that CEO Elon Musk held with employees, during which he said AI has become an “extremely important part of SpaceX’s future.”

“Probably our AI revenue — not probably, definitely — our AI revenue will exceed all other SpaceX revenue probably in September, like next month,” Musk said in his speech.

“And will significantly exceed all other SpaceX revenue in the fourth quarter,” he said.

The executive then shared his ambitions for the training of Grok, SpaceX’s family of large language models.

“We’re going to be training Grok on the sum total of all SpaceX information,” he said. “So in a way, it’ll be trained on you.”

He said SpaceX employees would be “the parents of the AI,” and it would inherit their thoughts, ideas, and beliefs.

He did not provide details on how Grok would be trained on employees. For instance, Meta rolled out a program in April to train its AI models on its employees’ keystrokes, a decision that drew major backlash and has since been paused.

SpaceX went public in a historic IPO in June, propelling Musk to become the world’s first trillionaire. The company then rebranded as SpaceXAI after acquiring xAI, and has a series of ambitious AI projects in the works.

For one, SpaceX is planning to launch data centers into space to train and run AI models. Musk said SpaceX is planning to build exclusively with Nvidia, pledging to use only Nvidia’s advanced Vera Rubin architecture for its compute.

SpaceX also acquired AI coding startup Cursor for $60 billion in June.

Apart from its AI projects, SpaceX’s other commercial offerings include its space launch vehicles like Falcon 9 and Starship, its Crew Dragon and Cargo Dragon spacecraft, and its satellite-network product, Starlink.
