Chrissy Metz revealed she’s taking a GLP-1 after having lost 100 pounds last year.
The “This Is Us” alum, 45, said she finally came to the decision after years of dieting that wasn’t effective.
“I’m not getting any younger,” Metz told People in an interview published Monday. “I’m in perimenopause, and there were obesity issues within my family and with my father, and I felt like I’ve tried so many modalities, whether it was diets or therapy, and none of it really worked for me.”
The actress — who’s partnered with Ro, a direct-to-patient digital health company that provides GLP-1s — didn’t share when she started taking weight-loss medication or which specific kind she’s on. But she called her experience with the medication “great” so far after being skeptical.
“It’s so nice not to be obsessing about what I’m going to have every minute, even as I’m still consuming the meal,” she explained. “I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn’t eat this or that.”
She acknowledged that “judgy” people will have a lot to say about her decision, but she isn’t giving them attention.
“It doesn’t matter, because like I always say, they’re not in my life,” she explained. “They’re not in my doctor’s notes. They’re not in the hereditary issues my family has.”
Metz added that she’s still working on building muscle with a trainer and hasn’t put a number on how much weight she wants to lose.
“I’m just a regular old girl who is trying her best,” she insisted.
In April 2025, Metz told the Daily Mail she had lost 100 pounds thanks to strength training. She gave a diplomatic answer when asked if she would ever try Ozempic at the time.
“It’s something I feel like, it is so personal and sure, I think it’s important to like destigmatize anything,” she said. “But I also think it’s people’s personal decision to decide what it is that they want to do for their body.”
“I think ultimately, at the end of the day, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves,” she added.
Still, she noted of her skittishness to ever getting weight-loss surgery, “I don’t even take Tylenol, like, I really am such a weirdo that way. I’m like, ‘Yeah, no.’”
