‘Another humiliation’: Conservative in awe as right-wing ally ‘spits in Trump’s face’

Conservative commentator and journalist Saagar Enjeti was blown away after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the Trump administration-backed peace plan for Gaza this week, a “stunning” development, he argued, that amounted to being “spit in the face.”

Earlier this month, Trump boasted of having reached an agreement on a 15-point peace plan with Hamas that involved disarming the Palestinian militant group, calling it “a great breakthrough” at the time. Several days later, however, the Israeli government rejected the proposal out of hand, with Netanyahu “openly” dismissing the plan on Sunday.

“I want to be clear here – Israel is ruling out the 15-point document,” Netanyahu said during a cabinet meeting of Israeli government ministers, The New York Times reported.

Speaking on the political program “Breaking Points,” Enjeti was in awe at the recent development, particularly given Trump’s seemingly unwavering support for Israel during his second administration.

“Netanyahu has spit in Donald Trump’s face, there is no other way around it!” Enjeti said in an episode of “Breaking Points” published Monday.

“Trump hailed the agreement, the Board of Peace hailed the agreement – these are Trump’s chosen people, they don’t give a s— about Palestine, even them! And now [Israel] is like, ‘nope, we’re not going to do it.’ I mean, it’s stunning, honestly.”

Enjeti’s co-host, political commentator and former Democratic congressional candidate Krystal Ball, concurred with the assessment.

“Another humiliation for Trump at the hands of the Israelis,” Ball argued.

The 15-point roadmap called for a phased framework in which Hamas would surrender its weapons in exchange for a full Israeli military withdrawal and the transition of governance to an independent Palestinian National Committee. Netanyahu, however, insisted Israeli forces would not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas is fully disarmed, while also reaffirming that no Palestinian state would be established as long as he remains prime minister.
