Sen. Bernie Moreno says ex-son-in-law Max Miller held daughter’s stuffed animal hostage: ‘Truly the seventh level of hell’

Embattled Rep. Max Miller kept his young daughter’s beloved stuffed animal “hostage” for two days last week, his ex-father-in-law Sen. Bernie Moreno claimed Tuesday, saying the congressman displayed “total and complete depravity” through his behavior.

Moreno (R-Ohio), who publicly called for Miller (R-Ohio) to resign from Congress Sunday over his allegedly abusive behavior toward ex-wife Emily Moreno and the couple’s two-year-old child, added that his family has been stuck in “the seventh level of hell” over Miller’s conduct.

“I had to go pick [the girl] up, because I don’t want my daughter interacting with this man, so I go to meet him at the Bay Village Police Station…because I don’t know what this guy is capable of, ” said Moreno, referring to the Cleveland suburb where they live.

His granddaughter, Moreno went on, “has a little blue bunny that she sleeps with – [but] Max would not hand over the little blue bunny – literally held it hostage for 48 hours.

“This girl is crying at night because she can’t sleep without her little blue bunny, and his answer is: ‘I’m just not going to give it to you,’” said Moreno, who added that Miller finally handed over the toy on Sunday – the same day a shirtless photo of the girl was included in a trove of digital files compiled by Miller’s attorney and released by the lawmaker in a bid to clear his name.

“This has been brutal beyond comprehension,” Moreno told reporters on Capitol Hill, “and if there’s any minimum standard for being an elected official…he fails to meet that minimum basic standard.”
