Legal expert questions White House’s silence on GOP senator’s abuse allegations

Legal expert Michael Popok discussed Rep. Max Miller’s (R-OH) abuse allegations on Tuesday.

On his “Legal AF” podcast, Popok highlighted President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump’s apparent silence on the matter.

Popok referenced former White House communications director Stephanie Grisham’s book, which contained an unnamed chapter about a boyfriend who physically abused her; Miller later self-identified as the subject.

“She didn’t name him by name, but it was obvious who she was talking about,” Popok said.

Grisham described “terrible physically abusive things” as she was leaving the relationship. Miller allegedly admitted to the abuse, according to a 2023-2024 Washington Post op-ed.

Popok also believed Melania allegedly advised Grisham to report Miller to police, yet remains notably silent despite calling for action on other scandals.

The legal expert criticized the apparent inaction, noting Grisham cited political concerns as her reason for not reporting Miller, fearing an abuse scandal would damage the Trump administration’s election campaign.

The silence contrasts sharply with Melania’s previous public positions on other controversies.

“If Grisham is telling the truth, and who are you going to believe, Melania Trump or Grisham at this point? And Melania encouraged her to go to the police, then where is she now? It’s a deafening silence. It’s a roar.”
