A local journalist swiftly fact-checked a Piers Morgan interview with a MAGA gubernatorial candidate known for making bizarre claims.
On Tuesday, Colorado GOP gubernatorial candidate Victor Marx was featured in an hour-long interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” where he defended his claim that he was forced to kill a man, behead a cat, and has a demon-sniffing dog.
However, veteran Colorado journalist Kyle Clark quickly stepped in to fact-check the interview a few hours after it was published on YouTube. Clark was the journalist whose interview with Marx was featured nationally because he pressed Marx’s claim about killing a man and asked how many people Marx had killed, to which he responded: “Does it matter?”
Clark noted in a post on X that Morgan’s interview was “largely a rehash of my interview with Marx in May without new revelations or research.” He described it as “a mess” and said it was “baffling why Marx did it other than to raise his profile.”
However, Clark noted, “Piers makes several false and misleading claims that muddy the discussion.”
Morgan pushed Marx to “recount his claims of beheading a cat (age 3) and killing a man (age 7), acts Marx claims were forced on him by an abuser,” Clark wrote.
Even though Morgan cast doubt on Marx’s claims, saying, “Did this really happen?” Clark noted that Morgan made false claims of his own. Morgan said during the interview that law enforcement from Mississippi had no records that could prove Marx’s claims about killing a man, but Clark pointed out that Marx claimed he killed a man in Louisiana.
“Piers oddly keeps asking if Marx will open an investigation of the killing as Gov, apparently not realizing it allegedly happened in Louisiana,” Clark wrote on X. In the interview, Morgan asks at least three times if Marx will investigate the killing if he becomes the Colorado governor, but Marx dismisses it as “a good question for a sound bite.”
Marx himself pointed out, “This isn’t the state that that happened in of where I was abused,” but Morgan asked again, “Would you investigate?”
Clark added, “Piers also falsely claims Marx’s website scrubbed an inaccurate claim of 45k women and children rescued by Marx after journalists asked (it was removed prior to the scrutiny).”
