‘Hypocrite isn’t nearly strong enough’: Outrage as Trump downplays horrific allegations

President Donald Trumpsparked outrage on Sunday after he seemed to downplay the allegations against Rep. Max Miller (R-OH).

Miller has been accused of domestic and child abuse by his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH). Emily Moreno accused her ex-husband of pouring hot water on her, holding a gun to her head, and acting violently toward her lawyer. Miller has denied all allegations and has vowed to continue his reelection campaign.

Trump was asked about whether Miller should resign while speaking with reporters on Air Force One.

“Well, I’m going to look at it. So far it’s accusations,” Trump said. “I’ll be looking at it.”

Trump’s comments set off a firestorm online.

“This is MAGA,” the MeidasTouch Network posted on X.

“Imagine the outcry if Dem leadership had done with Graham Platner what Trump is doing with Max Miller. And yet you hear crickets from so many professional conservatives, including and especially publicly religious conservatives who claim to cherish family values,” Pedro L. Gonzalez, a writer, posted on X. “’Hypocrite’ isn’t nearly strong enough a word to describe the immorality of conservatives who ride moral high horses for a living.”

“A rapist and an abuser protecting another abuser. Family values!” Wajahat Ali, author of “The Left Hook” on Substack, posted on X.

“But when they were against Platner it was ‘game over.’ F— this rapist,” Joanne Carducci, a political commentator known as JoJoFromJerz online, posted on X.
