A Democratic congresswoman is renewing pressure on Barron Trump to appear before the House Oversight Committee about his association with a pair of accused sex traffickers.
Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) told MeidasTouch podcaster Ben Meiselas that the 20-year-old first son is old enough to answer questions about his reported role in connecting Andrew and Tristan Tate to his father’s political orbit during the 2024 campaign, when the right-wing influencers vocally supported Donald Trump, reported The Independent.
“Andrew Tate was very publicly supportive of Donald Trump,” Ansari said.
Ansari pushed back firmly on any suggestion that Barron should be shielded from scrutiny because of his age, calling him a fully independent adult with real influence inside the Trump White House’s orbit.
“Barron Trump is an adult,” she said. “He is a full-blown adult, and he is very influential in the Trump White House orbit.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Last week, Ansari formally asked House Oversight Chairman James Comer to open an investigation into the Tates’ extensive coordination with people close to the president, including Barron.
Her renewed push follows the July 18 arrest of Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, in Miami. U.S. Marshals took the brothers into custody after British prosecutors sought their extradition on charges of raping and trafficking women between 2010 and 2017. The Tates deny wrongdoing, and their U.S. attorney has dismissed the U.K. charges as baseless, predicting they’ll ultimately be cleared in American proceedings.
Both brothers were ordered held without bond following a July 20 hearing. Since then, Andrew Tate has posted a series of statements on X defending his innocence and casting himself as a political prisoner, comparing his situation to that of Julian Assange and Trump himself.
The Tates, who hold dual U.S. and British citizenship, were previously arrested in Romania in 2022 on human trafficking and organized crime charges that remain pending. They were allowed to leave the country in February 2025 and flew to Florida on a private jet — a decision the BBC has reported followed interest from senior White House officials, though it remains unclear what role, if any, the administration played.
Trump has said he did not know of the matter, and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said last week that the president would not intervene to block the Tates’ extradition to Britain.
