2-year-old boy overdosed on cocaine while on Jersey Shore vacation

A 2-year-old boy survived overdosing on cocaine while on vacation on the Jersey Shore, according to authorities who charged the man who was supposed to be caring for him.

Alexander T. Moles, 39, was supposed to be looking after the boy and his siblings Monday morning while their mother showered before checking out of an Airbnb in Wildwood, NJ, according to court documents obtained by New Jersey 101.5.

He then drove the unidentified toddler to the hospital in North Wildwood after the mom finished her shower and panicked about her son looking sleepy and having difficulty breathing, the docs said.

One of them called 911, and at some point Moles told police he thought the tot had taken “pain killers.”

Once at the hospital, the boy was saved thanks to a Naloxone nasal spray — or Narcan — which is used to treat overdoses, NJ.com reported.

The toddler later tested positive for cocaine after he was taken to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional for blood tests.

Officers found a pill, tinfoil packets labeled “tapentadol hydrochloride,” a clear plastic bag containing a white, powdery substance, and several short plastic straws following a judge-ordered search of Moles’s Airbnb, according to an affidavit.

Tapentadol hydrochloride is a strong prescription pain medication used to treat chronic or nerve pains.

Authorities said Moles was staying at the property with a woman and her multiple children, including the victim, but did not disclose the nature of the relationship.

Moles, who lives nearly 200 miles away in Ringwood, NJ, was arrested and charged Tuesday with endangering the welfare of a child, cocaine possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prescription legend drugs, authorities said.

He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility and released with conditions following a detention hearing on Friday.

The investigation is ongoing.
