Sen. Darline Graham Nordone (R-SC), appointed to fill her late brother Lindsey Graham’s South Carolina seat with President Donald Trump’s endorsement, faces fierce backlash from MAGA supporters over a $100 donation to state Sen. Katrina Shealy, who opposed abortion restrictions.
The newly sworn senator attempted damage control on social media, declaring, “As a mother, I know that welcoming children into this world is God’s greatest gift,” according to the Daily Beast.
“I’m proud to be pro-life and stand up for the unborn and expecting moms,” she wrote.
She published a list of seven anti-abortion bills she supports, though some duplicate existing laws.

“You’re good friends with Katrina Shealy, the former South Carolina state senator who is PRO-ABORTION and OPPOSED the Heartbeat bill—AND you even donated to her campaign,” replied Kelly McCarty, a social media influencer.
“Lies,” user Teri wrote, “Your BFF is disgraced former state senator Katrina Shealy who was famous for consistently blocking pro-life legislation during her tenure.”
“Seems you are having a hard time with the truth,” user Jon Lee Pettimore commented, “Just words, you donated to pro-abortion SC candidates.. You do realize that public record?”
