The chilling first ransom note allegedly sent by Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapper has been revealed in full for the first time.
Journalist Briana Whitney read the message on Wednesday’s episode of the “Crime Junkie” podcast, nearly six months after the 84-year-old’s disappearance from her Tucson, Arizona, home.
“Hello, Savannah. We have your mother, Nancy,” the note began, according to the reporter.
“She is safe but scared,” Whitney went on to read. “She will be held for ransom and once payment is received, she will be released unharmed. We will be holding her for a maximum of seven days.”
She noted that the alleged abductor went on to demand millions of dollars — specifying this should be sent in US currency — while outlining deadlines.
“Once payment is received to the Bitcoin address below, she will be released within 12 hours of deposit to a safe drop off location back in Tucson,” Winters continued reading.
However, the note continued, “If the payment is not received by the last deadline on Monday the 9th at 5 p.m., she will be killed. Your mother is aware of this and her life is in your hands.”
“It is in the best interest of everyone to have this completed as soon as possible. You will not be able to contact me from here on out. There will be no negotiation. Do not play games. Law enforcement will not be able to help you.”
Whitney, additionally, claimed that the note included details about Nancy’s home — from the “white smart watch … on the floor near her bed, like, at the foot of the bed” to the “floodlight … destroyed in the backyard.”
She clarified that the FBI is still investigating the legitimacy of the note.
Savannah’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
An anonymous FBI insider, notably, insisted to Reuters earlier this month that “none of the ransom notes are believed to be genuine.”
A second law enforcement source doubled down on this claim, according to the outlet.
Air Mail alleged in June that another note, believed to be sent by the same person, had a “new, less confident tone” and gave a “sputtering and labored” apology for Nancy’s inadvertent death.
As headlines swirled about the alleged messages last month, Savannah tearfully addressed the matter on the “Today” show.
While “not involved in … coverage” of her mother’s disappearance the morning of Feb. 1, the journalist took “the opportunity to really ask people and really beg people to come forward because somebody knows something.”
The NBC personality, who is “in agony” and “cannot be at peace,” added, “This is a news story today that is on your radar, but this is the live my sister, [Annie Guthrie], lives, that I live, that my brother, [Camron Guthrie], lives, that our extended families live, that our children live every day.”
