Brazen NYC intruder posed as Con Ed worker before grabbing woman by neck and pistol-whipping husband

A brazen intruder stormed into a Brooklyn home while posing as a Con Edison worker, grabbed a woman by the neck and then pistol-whipped her hero husband who fought off the attacker, police said.

Gregory Jones, 56, allegedly forced his way inside the home on East 57th Street near Linden Boulevard in East Flatbush around 2:40 p.m. Monday, according to the NYPD.

Decked out in clothing that resembled the energy company’s gear, Jones allegedly grabbed a woman by the neck – while a child was home, cops said.

Luckily, her husband – whose phone was hooked up to the Ring doorbell – wasn’t far away when he heard the screams and sprinted toward the home, according to cops and the local outlet CrownHeights.info.

Jones then pistol-whipped the husband – who fought back, disarming and knocking the intruder unconscious, according to the report.

When the alleged burglar regained consciousness, he reportedly fled with some valuables, including a cell phone that Crown Heights Shomrim volunteers were able to use to track him.

Jones was arrested a couple hours later and faces a laundry list of charges in connection to the heist — robbery, strangulation, burglary, grand larceny, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, coercion, unlawful imprisonment, acting in a manner injurious to a child and menacing, police said.

Jones’ arrest history dates back to August of 1993 when he was taken into custody for a murder in the confines of the NYPD’s 77th Precinct, which covers northern Crown Heights and part of Prospect Heights, law enforcement sources said.

The disposition of that case was not immediately known.

More recently, he was arrested in May for two robberies, the sources said.

In one case, from April 16, he allegedly snatched $400 during a gunpoint stick-up at a Brooklyn discount store, leaving a 53-year-old man with minor injuries, the sources said.

In the other, from May 4 and also in Brooklyn, he allegedly grabbed a cell phone, $300, eyeglasses and a passport from a 54-year-old man, according to the sources.

He was indicted on the May 4 case, but managed to post bail on June 2, online records show.

Jones’ arraignment in the violent home invasion is pending.
