Trump’s Beijing bombshell: Letters to the Editor — July 20, 2026

The Issue: President Trump reveals China stole American voter registration data in a primetime speech.

The president’s speech revealing that China stole US voter information was quite enlightening; I’m glad they finally found proof of potential voter fraud (“Beijing’s U.S. voter hacking,” July 17).

Now it is time to act and bring charges.

Donald Smith

Pagosa Springs, Colo.

China’s possession of US voter data is no surprise, since Beijing’s interference in elections in Canada and Taiwan is well documented.

Trump is right to expose this. But why is he always saying what a great relationship he has with Xi Jinping?

Andrew Delaney

Jamaica Estates

What Trump conspicuously left out in his speech was that members of his own administration acknowledged they found no evidence of voter fraud that could have changed the outcome of the 2020 election.

I doubt this will be the last time the president claims the 2020 election was rigged before midterm elections. I hope that each time the president talks about the issue, fewer and fewer Americans will believe him.

Denny Freidenrich

Laguna Beach, Calif.

Deciding the thrust of Trump’s lunatic screed was false, NBC and ABC chose not to televise it and CBS cut away from it to start debunking it before he was even finished.

What’s worse — that neither of our last two presidents has been mentally stable or that the mainstream media is determined to manipulate our views?

Matthew Brief

Manhattan

Citing “vulnerabilities” in a system is one thing. But to prove that US voting machines were hacked to change votes or that US citizens were actively involved in such efforts, well, that’s something entirely different. Until I see names and criminal indictments, this means very little to me.

Arthur Saginian

Santa Clarita, Calif.

Did the president discuss the soaring cost of living or the disastrous stalemate in our war against Iran? No; he used the opportunity to again make baseless claims about the security of United States elections.

His unwillingness to accept the result of an election that he lost is unique to this president, and it is destabilizing to our system of elections and our country.

The Issue: Mayor Mamdani’s World Cup watch party with detainees at Rikers Island.

In a photo taken with convicted criminals inside of Rikers Island, Mayor Mamdani watched the England vs. Argentina World Cup match so he could gain political brownie points (“Zo’s prison goals,” July 17).

He made buddy-buddy with criminals while those who are victims of criminals must be insulted. Evidently, our mayor loves putting criminals, illegal migrants and those who get free assistance of every kind above honest hardworking people of New York City, which insults law-abiding citizens.

Joseph Comperchio

Brooklyn

The hits just keep on coming with Mamdani. Our illustrious mayor saw fit to attend a World Cup watch party at Rikers Island with numerous alleged felons and other prisoners. The taxpayer-provided menu included salmon, penne à la vodka and chicken parmesan.

The mayor stated that every New Yorker deserves to have their dignity affirmed. Does this also apply to the victims of their crimes?

Mr. Mayor, your place is with crime victims, not crime perpetrators.

Kenneth Fitzgerald

Hicksville

This mayor should be visiting the families of crime victims, not prisoners at Rikers Island. Who voted for this commie?

Anthony Nicolaidis

Brooklyn
