‘Old and horrible-looking’: Trump fixates on windmills as Iran fatalities mount

Two days after at least two U.S. service members were killed as the United States and Iran edge closer to war, President Donald Trump took to social media to criticize “old and horrible looking” windmills in the United Kingdom.

“Word is that the UK is going to move the old and horrible looking windmills, which loom over and destroy the City of Aberdeen,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

“That will be a big day for the Country, and will be very much appreciated by everybody.”

Trump’s social media post marks his second on Truth Social since the killing of at least two U.S. service members in Jordan, who were killed by Iranian strikes on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base on Friday.

A third U.S. service member stationed at the base is reported missing.

Trump has commented on the fatal attack only once since Friday, calling the soldiers’ deaths “a very sad thing” during a phone call with NewsNation’s Hannah Brandt on Saturday.

Atlantic columnist Tom Nichols on Sunday penned an editorial condemning this brief response.

“Two more deaths are not, as Trump calls them, merely a “very sad thing,” he wrote. “But the president has not seen fit, in all this time, to give one address to the American people or to Congress about why he plunged the United States into war, the global economy into chaos, and young Americans into danger.”

The president spent Saturday partly at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, a club that has a $125,000 member initiation fee to join.

Later today, Trump is slated to appear at the World Cup final.
