What We Know (So Far) About Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding

The speculation began mere seconds after the engagement announcement dropped on Instagram in late August. What would the wedding between two incredibly famous people — the pop star Taylor Swift and the football player Travis Kelce — look like?

While the couple has not confirmed any details, details have emerged about a mega celebration at Madison Square Garden in early July. Fans have been theorizing about everything from the wedding party to the ceremony, which some are likening to an American royal wedding.

When is the wedding happening?

The couple invited about 100 people to a rehearsal dinner at the Infosys Theater, a venue inside the Garden, on the evening of July 2, according to an internal police memo previously reported by The New York Times, with details about the gatherings. The memo is titled “Taylor Swift wedding at Madison Square Garden.”

A larger, event on July 3 will bring as many as 1,000 guests to the Garden, with possible stage appearances, according to the memo. A cocktail hour will be followed by “a wedding and reception in the arena” beginning at around 5:30 p.m., the memo says. The event is expected to end around 2 a.m.

Neither has publicly confirmed any plans, but discretion is nothing new for Swift, who is known for keeping details about her personal life private. On an episode of “The Graham Norton Show” in October 2025, Norton asked Swift if the wedding would be in 2026.

“Oh, you’ll know,” Swift replied, dodging the question and telling Norton that he would be invited, but that she was focused on promoting her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” at that time.

Still, Swift said she was “excited.”

“I know it’s going to be fun to plan because I think the only stressful weddings are the ones where you have a small amount and people are on the bubble and you have to evaluate or assess your relationship with them to see if they should be there,” she said. “I’m not going to do that.” She joked that she would be inviting “anyone I’ve ever talked to.”

“I shouldn’t have said any of that,” she added.

Where is the venue?

Swift and Kelce plan to hold a multiday event at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan over the Fourth of July weekend.

According to people familiar with the plans, the couple will have an intimate gathering of about 100 on July 2 at the Garden, followed by a larger gathering there on July 3. A permit was filed with New York City to shut down the streets around Madison Square Garden from July 2 to midday July 4. The Times also reported that some members of the Kansas City Chiefs have booked rooms at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square and that Amtrak police officers at Penn Station, which is below the Garden, have been put on alert for the July events.

Swift certainly has a strong connection to New York City, and she and Kelce have been spotted out and about in several boroughs in recent months. She, alongside the Haim sisters, appeared courtside at a Knicks game at the Garden earlier in June.

The singer also owns a home in Manhattan’s TriBeCa neighborhood and has penned plenty of lyrics about her love affair with the city, from Cornelia Street in the West Village to the High Line and even a “dive bar on the East Side.”

Over the weekend of June 13, the date on which Swift and Kelce were rumored to be marrying in Rhode Island, the celebrity couple was nowhere to be found, but the town was still full of Swifties who had planned trips months in advance in the hope of catching a glimpse of a potential wedding.

Swift’s mansion, known as Holiday House, which she purchased in 2013 for $17.75 million in a reported all-cash deal, appeared to be bustling with activity a few days later on June 17, when guests were photographed at the property, fueling speculation that the gathering could have been a pre-wedding or bachelorette celebration.

Who will be there?

Swift has already served as a bridesmaid several times. In 2021, she was part of the bridal party when the writer and actor Lena Dunham married Luis Felber. She has also been a bridesmaid for two childhood friends, Britany LaManna and Abigail Anderson Berard, about whom she penned the song “Fifteen.”

Kelce was a groomsman for his teammate Patrick Mahomes in 2022. He served as best man in his brother Jason’s 2018 wedding.

“Hopefully, I’m the best man. We’ll see,” Jason Kelce said of his potential wedding day role on the podcast “Bussin’ with the Boys” in September 2025. “Trav has a lot of friends, I’m just hoping to get the opportunity.”

The Kansas City Chiefs coach told the radio show “The Drive” that he “probably had” been invited. The actor Suki Waterhouse told Variety she would be attending and doing some simultaneous research for her own forthcoming wedding.

Several of Swift and Kelce’s friends and family were spotted traveling to and in New York City on Thursday, including Lena Dunham, Jack and Rachel Antonoff, several Chiefs players, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper. Selena Gomez posted a video from a car that evening wearing dangly earrings, a strapless, black ensemble and applying her lipstick.

What will Swift wear?

When it comes to what she might wear on her wedding day, the pop star has no shortage of options. Swift and Kelce both donned ensembles by Ralph Lauren in their engagement announcement photos. Lauren designed the wedding attire for Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco in September 2025 and the gown for Jennifer Lopez when she married Ben Affleck in 2022.

On her latest tour, Swift wore costumes by many designers, including Vivienne Westwood, who designed the minidress the singer Charli XCX wore for her courthouse wedding in 2025.

Until then, perhaps consider listening to Swift’s song “Dress” to tide you over.

Do we know any other wedding details?

Swift and Kelce reportedly have instructed their guests not to bring gifts, according to George Kittle, a tight end for the San Francisco 49ers and a founder of Tight End University, an off-season player summit, with Kelce and Greg Olsen, a retired tight end, in 2021. He spoke about the upcoming wedding at a recent TEU event.

“They said absolutely no gifts,” Kittle told Extra TV. “But I was thinking, Travis, for some reason, really likes old coins, so I might get him an old coin.”

What has the groom said?

In a January 2025 episode of his podcast, Kelce and his brother responded to a listener who asked the hosts to give their opinion on fall weddings, which could conflict with football games — both for fans and players. “I actually don’t know people who have gotten married in the fall,” Kelce said. “All the weddings I’ve been to, and all my friends do it in the summer.”

“I just got to figure out a football game first,” Kelce told Jimmy Fallon of the celebration on a September episode of “New Heights.” He joked that planning a wedding would be easy, “compared to figuring out how to catch a football,” using several expletives.

Fallon also asked about music for the event, inquiring if the couple would hire a D.J.

“We’re live music kind of people,” Kelce said.

When did the pair get engaged?

The couple announced their engagement on Instagram in a joint post on Aug. 26, 2025. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” read the caption, which included a firecracker emoji. (That’s pictograph for Taylor and Travis, or TNT for short.) The post consisted of a series of photos, including Kelce on bended knee before Swift in a garden full of flowers.

Ed Kelce, Travis Kelce’s father, discussed the couple in a televised interview following the announcement and said the engagement had happened a few weeks earlier at a garden in Lee’s Summit, Mo.

When did they start dating?

Kelce attended a performance of Swift’s Eras Tour in Kansas City in July 2023 and later said he was disappointed when he failed to meet the singer after the show. He retold that story on an episode of “New Heights,” the podcast he hosts with his brother, the football player Jason Kelce, that same month. Swift later told Time magazine that she thought Kelce was “metal as hell” for putting her “on blast” on the podcast, and the pair started “hanging out” shortly after the episode aired. Their first public appearance came that fall, when Swift was spotted cheering him on at a Kansas City Chiefs game. Since then, she has become a regular fixture at Kelce’s games, and he even made a cameo appearance onstage during a stop on the Eras Tour in London in June 2024.

What about the ring?

The rock, which Swift can be seen flashing in the engagement announcement, was designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry in New York. Lubeck specializes in hand-engraved jewelry featuring natural stones. In Swift’s case, the stone appears to be a bezel-set diamond on a yellow gold band. Speaking with The New York Times, Ann Grimmett, the vice president for merchandising at Jared Jewelers, estimated the diamond to be somewhere between seven and nine carats and could have cost anywhere from $250,000 to $500,000.

Swift said she had sent a video of Lubeck’s work to Kelce over a year before he proposed.

“When I saw the ring, I was like, ‘I know who made that, I know who made that!’ And also, ‘You listen to me!’” Swift said on the British radio show Heart Breakfast.
