Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) challenged President Donald Trump’s rationale for demanding Congress pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE America Act, calling the president’s election fraud claims absurd.
Trump continues insisting that fraud cost him the 2020 presidency and made passage of the voter ID legislation a prerequisite for signing other bills.
“I think it’s a distraction from our real problems,” Massie argued, and crassly noted Republicans won all the elections, controlling the House, Senate, Supreme Court, and White House.
The Kentucky Congressman lost his Republican primary last month to Trump-endorsed Ed Gallrein after allegedly angering the president by pushing for the release of Department of Justice files on Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump canceled a scheduled bipartisan housing cost legislation signing, reiterating his refusal to sign anything until Congress approves the SAVE Act, which critics argue would revoke the rights of millions of voters.
