NJ students vandalize high school during wild ‘senior prank’ leading to suspensions, graduation bans

Out-of-control New Jersey high schoolers vandalized their school and stole a lawn mower during a chaotic overnight prank that led to suspensions, expulsions and seniors being barred from graduation.

Manchester Township High School students allegedly broke into the academic building on June 17, where the mob is accused of trashing the property with garbage and other debris, writing obscenities on the roof and damaging a pickup truck, radio station WKXW reported.

The students were permitted to take part in the “senior prank” just one week before the final day of classes, but “exceeded the expectations and guidelines that had been communicated” to them, district Superintendent Diane Pedroza told the outlet.

During the disorder, a homemade “For Sale!” sign made out of contractor’s paper was placed on the school’s entrance sign off of Route 37, 15 miles west of Seaside Heights and the Jersey Shore.

Toilet paper hung from the main entrance, and “Got Pranked” was written on the walkway outside the school, according to footage obtained by Jersey Shore Online.

Several rooms and hallways inside the one-story building, which opened in 1976, were also covered with toilet paper, balloons and streamers.

Additional photos captured dozens of students hanging on top of the entrance overhang.

One student filmed several angles of the vandalism, which included an RV on the property with several teens eating inside and toilet paper covering the trees that lined the school’s entrance road.

The video showed several timestamps, including 3:46 a.m. and the school’s main clock reading 3:45 a.m. and 5 a.m., according to the TikTok post.

After the incident, officials allegedly discovered slurs had been graffiti around the school, the outlet reported.

“Appropriate action will be taken in accordance with district policies and the student code of conduct,” Pedroza said. “At this time we will have no further comment while the investigation remains ongoing.”

At least one student was expelled and several others had been handed suspensions.

Multiple seniors were barred from walking at graduation, which was held Tuesday evening inside the school’s gymnasium.

No charges have been filed in the vandalism.

“We are not prepared to put out a press release due to the ongoing investigation. There may be pending charges, and there are adults as well as juveniles involved in this incident. We have been working in close collaboration with the Board of Education to investigate the incident and come to a conclusion in this matter with them.”
