Jelly Roll and Bunny Xo were trying to have a baby before shock divorce: Inside their IVF journey

Bunnie Xo revealed she and her now-estranged husband Jelly Roll were trying for a baby by undergoing a “rough” in vitro fertilization (IVF) journey in an interview months before their shocking divorce filing.

In her memoir, “Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic,” published in February, the “Dumb Blonde” podcast host recalled several painful abortion experiences — including one at 16 during which she claimed her doctor “messed something up” — and two ectopic pregnancies.

“I genuinely think that having those abortions when I was younger, the journey that I’m going on now with IVF, God’s putting me through this again so that I can be a voice for those women who are going through this process,” Bunnie, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, told People in January ahead of the book’s release.

“And it is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through,” she continued. “It’s been rough. It has not been easy, but I know that God has a plan and he’s going to make it work. I really do. I have no doubt in my mind.”

After surviving the traumatic pregnancy experiences which she noted in her book almost “killed” her, Bunnie, 46, wrote that she and Jelly Roll, 41, began their IVF journey in 2019, and had finally found a surrogate to carry their baby.

“Now that we’re finally stable financially and somewhat emotionally after all the healing we’ve done over this decade together, we’re talking about the future — including growing our family,” she penned. “J and I have a surrogate, the sweetest woman ever, and soon I’ll be starting my IVF stims.”

“I didn’t have another way besides IVF,” the “Dumb Blonde” podcast host (pictured above with Jelly Roll in February 2026) host shared, adding that her pregnancy experiences almost “killed” her. xomgitsbunnie/Instagram

“We have decided to use my own eggs with J’s sperm — and we are trying for twins,” she continued. “I’m so nervous, because I’ve waited this long to have kids with someone I knew would be a great father — and to be able to make sure they have the best life.”

“We’re going to raise these babies in love and give them everything we were never given,” Bunnie added. “I can’t wait to see a piece of me and him running around outside of our bodies.”

“I didn’t have another way besides IVF,” the former sex worker explained. “I know that my mental health couldn’t take the hormonal changes. I’m in the best place I’ve ever been.”

During their relationship, Bunnie served as a stepmother to Jelly Roll’s two children — daughter Bailee Ann, 18, and son Noah Buddy, 9.

News broke on Monday that Bunnie’s husband Jelly Roll filed for divorce after nearly 10 years of marriage on May 18 in Williamson County, Tennessee.

According to the court docs, he cited “irreconcilable differences”as the reason for their split.

Most recently, a moving truck was spotted outside of their shared residence in Tennessee. It’s unclear at this time as to whose items were being moved from their marital home.

Bunnie has shared several cryptic social media posts in recent weeks, including one about her “getting her sparkle back,” one about “women’s intuition” and one shading her “trash” exes.
