Country star Radney Foster cancels upcoming shows after serious infection sends him to the ICU

Country star Radney Foster has been forced to reschedule a string of shows after being hospitalized.

On Wednesday, the 66-year-old singer’s team took to social media to give fans an update on his health.

“We’re sorry to announce that the Radney Foster/Kelly Willis shows this weekend are being rescheduled,” the statement reads on Foster’s official Instagram account. “Radney is recovering from a serious infection that required hospitalization. While he is improving and has been released from the ICU, his doctors have advised him to take time away from the road to focus on his health.”

“We know this is disappointing news, and this decision was not made lightly,” the statement continued. “Please contact the venues for information on the rescheduled dates. Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and your support as Radney continues to recover.”

Fans were quick to offer their support.

“Take good care of yourself, Radney! We need you, Dude!” one user commented.

“Sending all the healing vibes and prayers your way. Take care and get well soon,” another wrote.

Foster first gained recognition during the 1980s as part of the country duo Foster & Lloyd, which he formed with fellow songwriter Bill Lloyd. The pair were best known for singles including “Crazy Over You” and “What Do You Want From Me This Time.”

When the band parted ways in 1990, Foster took on a solo career and produced several hits, including “Just Call Me Lonesome,” “Nobody Wins,” “Easier Said Than Done” and “Hammer and Nails.” Throughout his career, he has written songs recorded by artists including Keith Urban, Sara Evans, The Chicks, Brooks & Dunn and Jack Ingram, among many others.

Foster is among a list of country stars who have recently canceled shows last minute due to illness.

In April, LeAnn Rimes had to cancel a string of concerts to focus on her health.

“Due to severe illness, I am unable to travel & perform this week,” Rimes shared on her Instagram Stories at the time.

“I’m sorry to share that the upcoming shows in Spokane and Seattle will be rescheduled… also, good news as we will be seeing you very soon!”

In addition to scheduling new dates for her 30 Years of Blue tour, Rimes reminded ticket holders that they would be notified directly “in due course.”

“All tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled dates, and if you’re unable to attend, refunds will be available through your original point of purchase,” she wrote.

“I am truly heartbroken to have to reschedule and I am so very grateful for your kindness, and continued support as I recover.”

She added, “I look forward to being back on stage and seeing you very soon.”
