TIME, in partnership with Statista, the leading global provider of market and consumer data and rankings, has published the second annual “World’s Top GreenTech Companies” ranking. This quantitative study highlights the companies driving the transition to a greener future in the world.

Methodology

The research project “World’s Top GreenTech Companies 2026” is a comprehensive analysis conducted to identify the top-performing GreenTech companies in the world.

To be considered, a company’s primary focus must be the development and provision of green technologies, products, or services that help mitigate or reverse the environmental impacts of human activity.

The study is based on three key pillars: positive environmental impact, innovation, and financial strength. Companies received scores in each dimension, which were then combined into an overall score. Statista collected and analyzed data on more than 8,300 companies through desk research, online application forms, and collaborations with data and market intelligence providers.

For the positive environmental impact assessment, Statista partnered with the The Upright Project to quantify the holistic impact of each company’s product and service portfolio, including its alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

For the financial strength dimension, Statista analyzed data on revenue, employees, and funding obtained from publicly available sources (e.g., annual reports and company websites), media monitoring, and databases. Additionally, company disclosures submitted via an online application form, which was freely accessible via the TIME website, were considered.

For the innovation drive, Statista cooperated with LexisNexis® Intellectual Property Solutions to analyze the quantity and impact of a company’s IP (intellectual property) portfolio. The scoring is based on the Patent Asset Index featured in LexisNexis® PatentSight+TM.

After collection and evaluation, the data were consolidated and weighted within a scoring model. The final score was calculated as follows: 45% x Impact score + 45% x Financial strength score + 10% x Innovation score.

The 250 companies with the highest scores were included in the “World’s Top GreenTech Companies 2026” ranking.
