New sweaty and vibrant morning ritual is taking over Bali

While Bali is known for its iconic yoga retreats and health cleanses, a wild new morning ritual is taking over the Indonesian island.

The viral ritual involves running at the crack of dawn for a sweaty but vibrant ‘silent rave.’

Footage of the energetic new initiative has exploded online, showing massive crowds sprinting down the notorious Canggu “Shortcut” at 5:30 a.m.

The route the group was running on is on an infamous, narrow pathway through the iconic rice fields of Bali.

The event, hosted by local community group Entourage Bali, is the island’s first-ever ‘Silent Disco Run’ club, adding another fun activity to the popular holiday destination.

The organizers posted the outcome of the event to their Instagram page, captioning the video “100+ people. 05:30 AM. Still dark outside. A DJ in the car was leading our run club running towards the sunrise in Bali.”

The clips show a sea of people passionately running towards the sunrise, throwing their hands in the air, and cheering to music only they can hear.

Quite a blissful moment.

“Our runs are free to join, and no sign-up is needed, so it’s very accessible to all, and also the local community. I would say in this case, probably 75 per cent were digital nomads/foreigners and 25 per cent locals,” the organizers explained.

“The crowd went completely wild as we had a DJ and MC on a truck pumping up the energy,” they added.

“After 20 years here, it’s sad to see how far the level of awareness has fallen,” an angry person wrote.

After sweating it out, the massive crew capped off the morning with much-needed juices and pastries from a local hotspot called Atelier Sandwich, known for its gourmet sandwiches.

The organisers claim this type of activity is becoming a “trendsetter” for fitness activities in Bali.

“There is no other place to start something like this than in Bali first,” they told news.com.au. “It is becoming more and more a trendsetter regarding fitness, health, lifestyle, and community trends.”

While people have asked when the next run will be, organisers have already teased that the sunrise rave will “be continued SOON.”
