A former top political aide is suing a MAGA influencer and former QAnon organizer after “catfishing” him on a dating app, according to reporting by Politico.
Steven Crowder, a popular right-wing personality, and Alysia Gamble, a former QAnon organizer, were hit with a lawsuit after allegedly deceiving a political aide into a secretly recorded undercover video, Politico reported.
Rob Field, a former top aide for Democratic New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, met Gamble through the dating app Bumble. According to Politico, she used the name Leah Andrews to charm Field with talks of peanut butter and football so that she could record their calls and dates.
Crowder posted the recordings on X and exposed his private conversations about fellow Democrats and Republicans days before the 2025 New Jersey primary election for governor, according to Politico.
“I invested a lot of my time, my emotions, my financial resources, into a five-month relationship — and got my heart stomped on,” Field told Politico.
In a final text message to Gamble after the videos were released, Field was even more raw.
“Because of what you did to me, I can no longer date anyone. I’m so hurt because I thought I had my future wife and I treated you like a queen. I owe you a debt of gratitude for teaching me a valuable life lesson to not be as open, trusting, loving or caring.”
He added: “I loved you so deeply. I can never love again. Please don’t hurt anybody else like you hurt me.”
On Tuesday, Field filed a lawsuit against Gamble, Crowder, and his media company, Louder With Crowder, alleging that they committed fraud, violated his privacy, and intentionally caused his emotional distress, according to Politico.
Politico noted that undercover videos and secret recordings are a common weapon for right-wing operatives, including James O’Keefe from Project Veritas. Critics warn that those recordings can be “misleading or taken out of context” and have “upended careers,” Politico added.
Field left state government when Murphy’s term ended in January 2026 and now works in local administration.
