“Alaskan Bush People” star Noah Brown confirmed he identified his brother Matt’s body after he was found in a Washington river.
Noah, the youngest brother among the seven Brown siblings, shared in an Instagram video Saturday that he identified Matt after his eldest brother’s body was pulled from the river. Noah said he had been working with search groups to find Matt’s body, and that the group he was with located him at 3:27 p.m.
“I identified it as Matthew,” Noah said. “My oldest brother, Matthew Brown, has passed away.”
Noah said the family would receive more details when the coroner’s report comes out and thanked those who were searching for Matt, including locals.

“I was there when we pulled him out of the river,” he said. “We hauled him up off the bank. And then, after the sheriffs got there and everything, the coroner did his thing, and I went down to identify that it was him.”
“It’s definitely Matthew,” he continued. “His ID and Social Security card was on him, and I was able to visually identify that it was Matthew.”
Noah also addressed fans of “Alaskan Bush People,” noting, “I’m sorry it came down to this.”
“I don’t know what to say,” he added, taking a pause as he got emotional.

“Anyway, it’s late. Say your prayers and tell people that you love that you love them while you can.”
Noah’s brother Bear Brown also shared in a TikTok video Saturday that Matt died by suicide. He was 43 years old.
“I didn’t think he would hurt himself, it does look like the injury is self-inflicted,” Bear said. “Obviously, the coroner has to look at him and stuff, but I thought you guys should know it is him.”
Earlier this month, Matt posted an alarming livestream on YouTube in which he was nude and rambled while carrying what appeared to be a gun. In a TikTok video last week, Bear said that Matt “has been struggling for a long time with alcohol and with drugs” — but he insisted the family did not “shun” him. Instead, Matt allegedly “didn’t want anything to do with the family.”

He said that the last time he saw him was when they ran into each other at Walmart “a little bit ago,” and Matt told him he had “fallen off the wagon.” Bear said he had encouraged him to go to rehab.
Bear repeatedly said that he “would’ve never thought that Matt would take his own life.”
Matt appeared in the Discovery Channel’s “Alaskan Bush People” between 2014 and 2019, which starred his parents — Billy and Ami — and his siblings. Billy died in 2021 at 68 years old.
The reality series followed the Brown family as they lived off the grid in the wilderness.
