First, it was Hawaii. Then Sicily. Then Thailand. Soon, the French Riviera will get its turn in the spotlight when the fourth season of The White Lotus arrives.
Filming has kicked off for the latest season of Mike White’s Emmy-winning HBO Original series, which follows the wealthy guests and long-suffering employees of the fictional White Lotus hotel chain.
While the series is known for its celebrity-filled casts — featuring the likes of Jennifer Coolidge, Sydney Sweeney, Aubrey Plaza, and, in the upcoming series, Laura Dern — its luxury hotels have become stars in their own right.
Previous hotels that were featured as White Lotus resorts include Four Seasons properties in Maui, Sicily, and Koh Samui.
For season four, which will film in Paris, Monaco, and along the Côte d’Azur, Warner Bros. Discovery has named two luxurious but very different hotels as filming locations. The Airelles Château de la Messardière will serve as the White Lotus du Cap, while the Hôtel Martinez will appear as the White Lotus Cannes.

Hôtel Martinez

Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that the series will unfold against the backdrop of the legendary Cannes Film Festival, which is usually held in May at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.
The five-star Hôtel Martinez, a 10-minute walk from the venue, is often where paparazzi gather during the festival to snap photos of the many celebrities staying there.

The Art Deco-style building, which was built in the 1920s for Italian nobles, joined the Hyatt group in 2013. But it’s not your regular Hyatt — it has a Michelin-starred restaurant, La Palme d’Or, and a private beach club.
It also has penthouse apartments that come with 180-degree views of the Bay of Cannes, as well as 24/7 butler service.

In high season, during the summer months, rooms start at about $900 per night. During the off-peak season, in months such as October, basic rooms are available for closer to $450 a night.
The hotel has 410 rooms and suites.

Airelles Château de la Messardière
The second hotel featured in the next season of ‘The White Lotus’ is smaller and way more expensive.
Situated on a hilltop above St. Tropez, the exclusive Château de La Messardière has 84 rooms split between the main château and villas scattered around the 25-acre estate.
The five-star hotel is part of the Airelles luxury collection, which also has properties in high-end locations such as Courchevel, Versailles, and Provence.
Rooms at the hotel start at about $3,500 during high season, and at about $1,755 in quieter periods, such as October. The 1,000-square-foot Prestige suite goes for upward of $11,000 a night in the summer.
It has become a popular venue for weddings as well as a dining destination, with six restaurants and bars across the property. One of them is a Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant created by Chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, one of the founders of Nobu.
Open from April to October each year, the property also features a private beach, an open-air cinema, and suites with their own swimming pools.
Given the show’s track record, these luxurious hotels will, in all likelihood, become the backdrop to drama, death, and dysfunction.
