Attending her first Met Gala in a decade, Beyoncé walked the carpet in a feathered, gem-encrusted ensemble.
With her daughter Blue Ivy and her husband, Jay-Z, not far behind, the pop superstar, who is a co-chair of this year’s gala, made her entrance as the carpet was nearly over, past its stated end time of 8 p.m., to thunderous cheers.
Her previous looks at the gala have included a custom latex Givenchy gown with a mermaid silhouette (2016) and a black Emilio Pucci mermaid gown (2011), among other Givenchy numbers. She stoked curiosity when she posted a photo shoot of herself in a vibrant purple Yves Saint Laurent gown on Instagram in recent days, seemingly a nod to the famed yellow dress she wore for a now iconic music video from the album “Lemonade,” on the 10th anniversary of its release.
Her arrival came as fans were speculating (and feverishly hoping) that the singer would use the high-profile event to announce the release of a highly anticipated final installment of an expected trilogy of genre-bending albums.
