New ‘massive conflict of interest’ clouds DOJ’s 2020 election conspiracy probe

The decision by the Department of Justice to appoint a former Fox News legal analyst to head up an investigation into former federal officials who investigated Donald Trump will present a whole new set of problems for the Trump administration, according to reporting.

Last week it was announced that federal prosecutor Maria Medetis Long was ousted after objecting to pressure to indict former CIA Director John Brennan for what the president and his allies believe was false testimony about Russian involvement.

In her place will be the former US Attorney Joe diDenova, who later became a regular on Fox News until he was reportedly banned after comments he made about George Soros.

Appearing on MS NOW with host Anna Cabrerra, former FBI official Michael Feinberg stated diGenova brings a whole host of problems due to his stolen election advocacy that also led him to defend others who were accused of conspiracy to overturn the election.

As he explained on Monday, “diGenova actually represented a number of people who were on the periphery of the first impeachment effort, and for that matter, so did Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. So if they really are trying to build out this massive conspiracy scheme and present it to a grand jury or a series of grand juries, it’s really difficult for me, both as a former FBI agent and a former attorney, to see how they do not have a massive conflict of interest, which would bar them just as a general matter from this, but also run afoul of some pretty strict DOJ policies.”
