Welcome to Late Night Roundup, a rundown of the previous night’s highlights that lets you sleep — and lets us get paid to watch comedy. Here are the 50 best movies on Netflix right now.
What, a Joke?
On Tuesday, Vice President JD Vance explained that President Trump’s social media post, an apparently A.I.-generated image depicting himself as a Jesus-like figure, was meant as “a joke,” and that it was deleted because “a lot of people weren’t understanding his humor.” Or, as Ronny Chieng put it on “The Daily Show,” “poor JD Vance had to come out and explain why you don’t get it.”
“Get over it, snowflakes. Where in the Trump Bible does it say you can’t worship false idols?” — RONNY CHIENG
“It was a joke! What’s the matter? You guys don’t have jokes at Jesus camp?” — RONNY CHIENG
“OK, well, make up your mind: Is it a doctor or is it a joke? Or is it a doctor who is a joke, like a chiropractor?” — RONNY CHIENG
“He was posting a joke, you understand? And like all the best jokes, it had to be explained and then deleted.” — JIMMY KIMMEL
“First, he was Jesus. Then he wasn’t Jesus, he was a doctor, and now it was a joke. Why did I get kicked off the air, again? I can’t remember.” — JIMMY KIMMEL
“Yeah, it was just, it was just humor. God humor — the Bible’s full of it.” — STEPHEN COLBERT
The Punchiest Punchlines (‘Jim Beam Me Up, Scotty’ Edition)
“Phillips got in some interesting water recently when it came out that he claimed he once teleported to a Waffle House. Now it is possible this sci-fi adventure happened after consuming some ‘teleportation juice.’ Jim Beam me up, Scotty.” — STEPHEN COLBERT, on the FEMA official Gregg Phillips
“He must be joking, right? You know, like when you tell everyone that you’re Jesus? It’s just a joke!” — RONNY CHIENG
“Wow, I never thought I’d hear a boring teleportation story, but.” — RONNY CHIENG
“You have the power of teleportation but you use it to go to Waffle House?” — RONNY CHIENG
“This guy teleports to all the exact places you end up when you’re blackout drunk. That’s just incredible. I mean, Tiger Woods is like, ‘Yeah, that happened to me too! I just teleported into an upside-down car.’” — RONNY CHIENG
The Bits Worth Watching
