Thousands expected to flood downtown LA for Iranian ‘Global Day of Action’ protest at City Hall

Thousands of protesters will flood downtown LA on Saturday as part of a “Global Day of Action” in support of the Iranian people defying the nation’s brutal two-month crackdown on dissenters.

The march will start at 1pm at City Hall, where a laundry list of speakers will deliver calls to act before a mile-long march at 3pm.

Organizer Shally Zomorodi hinted some “politicians and celebrities” will turn up, but she didn’t specify who.

She estimated there will be anywhere from 100,000 to 200,000 attendees hailing from states as far as Minnesota.

She said: “I feel like the universe knows what we are going to do, the skies are going to part, it is going to be a perfect day for you to be outside.”

LA, Toronto and Munich, where Gavin Newsom is currently at the international security conference, were named the primary bases for the protests, according to flyers shared online.

Reza Pahlavi, the exiled prince of Iran, said in a post on X the show of global support will ideally “compel the international community to take urgent, practical steps in support of the Iranian people.”

He wrote: “The Islamic Republic’s occupying rule has tried to break our nation’s will through massacre and brutal violence. It has failed.

“These invading terrorists, alien to Iran, have slaughtered tens of thousands of brave Iranians and cut off the internet to hide their crimes.

“Yet the people of Iran still stand before bullets, raising the cry of freedom and love of country. The era of fear is over. The era of freedom is near. Iranians have risen.”

Pahlavi said “solidarity matters” and noted international governments will only be “compelled to listen” if the people “stand united.” He added: “History will remember those who stood with the Iranian people.”

During LA’s last major protest for the Iranians in early January, a U-Haul truck plowed through the crowd — miraculously only injuring two.

The words “NO SHAH. NO REGIME. USA: DON’T REPEAT 1953. NO MULLAH” were emblazoned on one side of the vehicle.

The driver, 48-year-old Calor Madanescht, claimed he was there to support the protesters and mistakenly cut through the crowd while they were trying to clear a path for his truck.

Activists claimed roughly 7,000 Iranians have been killed since the regime started cracking down on nationwide protests in late December.

Some pro-regime thugs were seen parsing through hospitals and executing battered protesters while they waited for medical treatment, sources told The Post.
