A champion bodybuilder collapsed and died from a heart attack in the middle of a workout, according to local reports.
Juan Sebastian Anzola Quintero fell to the ground while working out at a Smart Fit gym in a northwest Bogotá, Colombia, shopping center last Thursday — with staff and other gym-goers rushing to trry to save him, according to reports.
They used a defibrillator and attempted CPR for around 25 minutes before realizing he could not be saved.
“Unfortunately, the person died before transfer [to the hospital],” the gym said.
Quintero — who was also known as “Sebas” and “Juanse” — had won numerous bodybuilding awards in the bodybuilding and classic physique categories.
He also ran a business selling and promoting nutritional supplements and was known for documenting his fitness routines on an Instagram account that has since been removed.
His family and pals have called for his death to be investigated.
A Smart Fit spokesperson told local media the gym regrets his death and expresses its condolences to his family.
