HHS Secretary RFK Jr. reveals his Super Bowl splurge ahead of the big game: ‘Meat and ferments’

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed his top Super Bowl snacks Sunday ahead of the big game.

It’s a day that many Americans use an excuse to pig out on fried food and junk. Not the head of the “Make America Healthy Again” movement, though.

He said his big splurge is will be yogurt.

“I am on a carnivore diet, so I just eat meat and ferments, and I’m very happy with that,” a smiling Kennedy told Fox News’ “The Sunday Briefing.”

“I’m probably going to have yogurt.”

Ferments are foods like yogurt and kimchi, where yeast and bacteria create organic acids that act like natural preservatives.

“People can eat what they want,” Kennedy begrudgingly caveated. “You can eat buffalo wings. But you should check the ingredients. If there’s a lot of seed oil, if there’s corn syrup in them, if there’s artificial flavors, you probably shouldn’t be doing it.”

“There are healthy alternatives now. You don’t have to punish yourself with your diet, but you know, you should pay attention to it.”

While Kennedy appeared uneasy with many popular Super Bowl snacks, he sees a bright spot in this year’s football showdown for the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, given boxer Mike Tyson’s ad on obesity.

“I think it’s the most important ad in Super Bowl history, because it’s a crisis,” Kennedy reflected. “Obesity is off the charts. 38% of American teens are diabetic or pre-diabetic, and the cost to our country is ruinous.”

President John F. Kennedy’s nephew has long gained a reputation for his vaunted dietary and health habits, where he eschews junk and processed foods.

During the 2024 election cycle, he went viral over revelations that he had picked up a dead bear cub from the side of the road and put it into his car with the intention of putting it in his refrigerator to eat later.

When scheduling issues changed those plans, he opted to dump the bear in Central Park with the intent of jokingly making it appear as though a bike accident killed the furry animal.

The HHS head also faced controversy over accusations that he transported a dead whale’s head on the top of his vehicle after a beach trip in the 1990s. Additionally, a photo emerged of him proudly eating an animal carcass that he claimed was a goat.

At times, his MAHA crusade has clashed with President Trump’s personal habits and affection for fast food, particularly McDonald’s. Following Trump’s 2024 victory, a frowning Kennedy was pictured posing next to the then president-elect, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), Elon Musk, and Donald Trump Jr. with a Big Mac.

“The president,” Kennedy told “The Katie Miller Podcast” last month, had the most “unhinged eating habits.”

“The interesting thing about the president is he eats really bad food, which is McDonald’s … and Diet Coke,” RFK Jr. added. “He has the constitution of a deity.”

“I don’t know how he is alive.”

This year’s Super Bowl will see the New England Patriots face off against the Seattle Seahawks, starting at 6:30 pm ET.
