Miley Cyrus snubbed Lady Gaga after the latter snagged the award for best vocal album during Sunday’s 2026 Grammys.
The “Flowers” hitmaker, 31, notably failed to stand up or even clap when Gaga, 39, got on stage to accept her award for “Mayhem.”
The “Hannah Montana” star, who rocked a black leather jacket and matching pants, remained seated during Gaga’s big moment, unlike their fellow nominees, including Sabrina Carpenter.
Reps for Cyrus and Gaga did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
Fans on social media immediately noticed the snub, with one person writing via X, “Miley shading Andrew Watt not Gaga I’m actually obsessed by it.”
Meanwhile, another chimed in, saying, “Miley’s face during lady gaga winning? EXCUSE ME ?!”, as another said, “Now I need an explanation on why Miley sat for Gaga….”
“THE SHADE MILEY NOT STANDING UP FOR GAGA WHATS GOING ON AND WHY IS WATT PROBABLY THE REASON,” a fourth person wrote.
However, others defended Cyrus, noting that her rift is with Gaga’s producer, Andrew Watt, with whom she collaborated on “Plastic Hearts” in 2020.
“Miley was never going to stand up when Watt was on the stage, it had nothing to do with Gaga,” a netizen wrote, noting their ongoing feud. “Please learn your history before speaking on her.”
While it’s unclear exactly why Cyrus and Watt are seemingly feuding, fan speculation centered around rumors that the pair had a brief relationship while making “Plastic Hearts.”
In a 2020 interview, however, the producer gushed over the Disney Channel alum.
“I have known Miley [Cyrus] for a long time, and I’ve known her work and paid really close attention to all the stuff she was doing because I was such a fan,” he told “Entertainment Weekly” at the time.
“When she and her team came to me saying that she wanted to lean into her rock vibes a bit more, it was a dream.”
Watt continued, saying that Cyrus is an “artist who, without a doubt, always knows what she wants to do.”
“You’re on Miley’s ride when you’re there,” he continued. “And she connects to her lyrics so hard. The music of ‘Plastic Hearts’ was within the first three things I made for Miley. And I believe it was the second song we ended up writing for the album.”
