That’s an icy meatball: weathercaster goes viral with frigid spaghetti trick

Look out Stouffer’s, there’s a new frozen spaghetti in town.

Minneapolis meteorologist Jennifer McDermed went viral after she posted a picture and video of a plate of completely-frozen plate of spaghetti holding up a fork in the air on what appears to be a backyard deck, as freezing temperatures grip the country.

“Minneapolis reached a low of -21°F and a wind chill of -45°F this morning! Ouch! Obviously I had to do the pasta experiment,” McDermed posted on X Friday.

The video, which has nearly 8 million views, had social media users losing their noodles.

“Trust me, I’m in East Coast NY and I will be doing that on Sunday… I hope not… but news makes me worry too much,” one user posted.

“Haha incredible! Can’t believe I’ve never tried this!” another said.

“Stay warm, respect the cold and never trust uncooked spaghetti in polar conditions,” another X user posted.

A woman went viral for posting a picture of frozen spaghetti.

Another Michigan woman, Rachel Whipple, also achieved the frozen spaghetti trick, according to News Channel 3.

It took 20 minutes for the spaghetti to freeze, holding a fork in the air, the outlet reported.

Frigid temperatures have plagued much of the country as Winter Storm Fern is set to bring over a foot of snow to the Big Apple and beyond.

More than 140 million people could be impacted by the storm, which stretches from the south all the way to parts of New England, and at least 22 states have issued emergency declarations.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani warned that temperatures in Gotham will be colder next week than they have been in eight years.
