A bar in North Carolina went viral for offering women free drinks — if they bring a picture of a man who cheated on them.
Johnny Dollars, a dive bar in Charlotte, hosted their first ever “Fu*k We Dated The Same Guy Night” on Nov. 21, and gave out over 130 free drinks to all the scorned women of the city. One girl even brought the man who cheated on her, according to a report.
Sarah Desourdy, the savvy social media manager of Johnny Dollars’ Instagram reportedly got the idea for the event after accidentally posting a photo of an male patron on a night out.
“He reached out and told me the photo got him in trouble,” Desourdy said in an interview with Axios.
After realizing she may have caused embarrassment for the potential cheater, Desourdy leaned into the concept and pitched her manager the event – which promptly went viral.
An Instagram post announcing the evening racked up over 600,000 views, Desourdy told the outlet.
“We wanted to do something fun — God forbid (the girls) get a free drink,” she joked to Axios, explaining the event wasn’t intended as some mass trauma-dump.
“We just want to get drunk with the girls who understand what we’ve been through.”
A 2022 ranking by BestPlaces, listed Charlotte as the tenth worst city for dating across the US. Desourdy doesn’t find this surprising.
“The girls are tired of it,” she said.
Still, Johhny Dollars is one of the best places to commiserate – equipped with cheap drinks, an old-fashioned photo booth, and a portrait of a shirtless Michael B. Jordan in the women’s bathroom.
“The safest place in Charlotte is the girls’ bathroom at a dive bar,” Desourdy said.
She’s looking forward to hosting a similar night for men, but a date has yet to be set.
