Count her out of this fight.
Countess Spencer won’t have to pay her husband’s alleged mistress for leaking private details about her health.
Archeologist Professor Catrine Jarman — the alleged mistress of Earl Spencer who now the earl’s girlfriend — sued Spencer’s wife in 2024, claiming that the countess had spilled that Jarman has MS.
But new documents from London’s High Court show that Jarman and the countess have settled the matter, but the court ordered the earl to cough up cash to cover the costs of litigating Jarman’s claim against the countess — which are expected to run over $2.5 million — including damages due to Jarman of about $6,000.

Countess Spencer has previously alleged in court that Earl Spencer — the brother of Princess Diana and uncle to Princes William and Harry — struck up a relationship with Jarman in 2021 while they were doing an archeological dig at his ancestral home Althorp House in Northamptonshire, England.

After the alleged affair came to light, Jarmen, 43, claimed that Countess Karen Spencer, 53 — who married the earl in 2011 — told others, including the earl, that she suffered from multiple sclerosis without her consent.
In legal papers released Monday, it appears that the court is sick and tired of the battle over the MS issue, and offered the countess the chance to accept a so-called “Part 36,” which would allow her to settle the suit without admitting wrongdoing.
“This litigation needs to come to an end,” an arbitrator in the case wrote in a judgement, “and it is open to [the countess] to accept the Part 36 offer and bring it to an end. I expect her to do so, and if she does not, she will bear the costs of that decision.”
But the court added that the earl, 61, “must indemnify her for any sums required by her to satisfy the terms of the offer (including costs), and her own legal costs incurred in connection with the… proceedings.”

A spokesperson for the countess told Page Six: “Countess Spencer considers her position to have been fully vindicated. There was no admission of liability or wrongdoing and Earl Spencer has been ordered to pay the legal costs, which are expected to be in excess of £2m together with £4,500 in damages to be paid to his girlfriend Cat Jarman. Countess Spencer sincerely hopes this will mark the end of the matter.”
Prof. Jarman released her own statement saying: “As someone living with Multiple Sclerosis, I have the unquestionable right to decide when and how to share such sensitive details. Pursuing the claim was a necessary and principled step to protect that right, as well as my career and livelihood. The matter has now been resolved after the other party chose to settle the claim, and I regard that outcome as a clear vindication of my decision to take action.”
