A neighborhood dispute over loud music has left one man in the hospital and another in custody after a confrontation ended in gunfire Monday night in Burbank.
Police responded to the 800 block of North Reese Place shortly after 11 p.m. following a call from a man who told them he had been shot.
The 33-year-old victim was found sitting on the curb with a gunshot wound to his leg, the Burbank Police Department confirmed on Tuesday. He was taken to a local hospital with what was considered a non-life-threatening injury and was listed in stable condition.
“The preliminary investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from an ongoing neighborhooddispute over loud music,” police said.
Investigators learned that the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Eric Renato Sosa, exited a home to confront two men about the noise coming from a parked vehicle.
For unknown reasons, Sosa allegedly fired a single gunshot during the incident, which struck the victim in the leg.
A firearm believed to be the weapon used in the shooting was recovered, police said.
Sosa was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on $30,000 bail. He is due to appear in court on Thursday.
Anyone with additional information was asked to contact the Burbank Police Department at 818-238-3210.
