Amazon announces $25 Thanksgiving dinner for 5: Here’s what’s in it

(NEXSTAR) – Amazon is the latest company to roll out a Thanksgiving meal designed to help Americans put food on the table for less this year.

The deal, which starts Nov. 12 and lasts through Nov. 27, will include an 8-pound Butterball frozen turkey and the following Reser’s side dishes: homestyle stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and green bean casserole, along with Amazon Grocery crescent rolls and a holiday pie. According to Amazon internal data from 2024, the most-ordered pies were pumpkin, apple and cherry, while the top seasonal produce options were russet potatoes, green beans, broccoli, mandarin oranges and Honeycrisp apples.

Amazon isn’t the only company trying to woo budget-conscious Thanksgiving shoppers in 2025. In October, Walmart announced its “Thanksgiving Meal Basket” for under $40.

The meal bundle includes over 20 items Walmart says will feed 10 people for under $4 per person.

Walmart announced its meal deal just days after Aldi did, with the discount supermarket chain boasting “21 total products and ingredients” for $40, a similar deal designed to feed 10 on Thanksgiving.

For over 40 million Americans who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), November has been a tough month, with benefits going unpaid thanks to the ongoing government shutdown.

On Monday, the Trump administration announced it would partially fund food assistance in the wake of two judges’ rulings mandating that the government keep the program running.

It wasn’t immediately clear, however, when SNAP participants would actually receive funds, which will only be half of normal monthly payments.
