And in this corner … nobody.
Netflix said tonight that its planned match between ex-YouTuber Jake Paul and pro boxer Gervonta Davis has been canceled. Neither the streamer nor Most Valuable Promotions gave a reason for scrapping the event planned for November 14 at Kaseya Center in Miami, but the latter’s CEO said, “Our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025.”
“Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly,” said Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions. “While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025. Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized.”

News of the Paul-Davis cancellation comes nearly a year after Paul’s much-hyped fight against then-58-year-old 1980s heavyweight legend Mike Tyson, which racked up more than 46 million views despite a number of tech glitches. Paul returned to the ring in June against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, son of the legendary Mexican brawler.
The Paul-Tyson bout at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlen, Texas, was a one-sided affair that went the distance — eight two-minute rounds. It earned the biggest boxing gate outside of Las Vegas in US.. history, surpassing $17.8 million. More than 70,000 were in attendance at the November 15 match. Originally scheduled for July 20, the event was postponed when Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up in May 2024. As the pair trained, Netflix aired the three-part docuseries Countdown: Paul Vs. Tyson.
