Hundreds of Carl’s Jr. locations across Southern California are offering one-dollar meals to families impacted by the ongoing federal government shutdown, officials confirmed to KTLA.

Starting Nov. 1, participating restaurants operated by Akash Management LLC — a major Carl’s Jr. franchise group with nearly 300 locations in Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire — started providing a Kids Hamburger, Small Fry and Kids Drink for just $1 to qualifying guests.

The initiative is meant to ease financial strain on local families and government workers during the shutdown, franchise owner and CEO Amir Siddiqi said.

“We live here. We work here. We raise our families here,” Siddiqi said in a statement. “When our community is under stress, we feel it too. A warm meal at a fair price can offer a moment of comfort during uncertain times, and we believe that matters.”

To receive the discounted meal, guests are asked to show one of the following:

  • A federal government employee ID
  • A military ID
  • A SNAP or EBT card

No additional purchase or signup is required. The offer will remain available for the duration of the shutdown, while supplies last.

“In moments like this, being a good neighbor means stepping forward,” Siddiqi added. “If this helps even a little, that is what we are here to do.”
