A cross-dressing porch pirate is behind bars after getting caught stealing packages from Alabama homes.

Todd Anthony Bond, 46, was arrested early Friday morning after security footage led Mobile County Sheriff’s deputies straight to him — but at first it seemed they might be searching for a woman.

“A couple of things that kind of stuck out to us that helped solve this crime was the vehicle,” Sergeant Lonnie Parsons of Mobile County Sheriff’s Office told WKRG.

“Obviously the more important thing was this person’s particular look,” he added. “Of course, with Halloween coming up, we were trying to understand whether this person was dressed for Halloween or if this is the way they normally dress.”

Bond, a Mississippi resident, was caught on camera rolling up a home’s driveway in a black Ford Escape in broad daylight, calmly strolling up the home’s front path.

Then — after taking a moment to puff on a vape — Bond allegedly shoveled an armload of packages into his SUV and drove off.

The suspect in the footage was wearing a blouse, skirt, and a purple bejeweled headband over long blonde locks, and it wasn’t until the Ford Escape in the footage was pulled over days later that it became clear Bond was actually a man.

During that traffic stop at around 1 a.m. Friday, Bond was still dressed as a woman. It remains unclear whether Bond was wearing a disguise, is transgender, or just enjoys cross dressing.

Police have referred to Bond as “He” and “Him” since the arrest.

Booking photos from the Metro Jail showed Bond still dressed as a woman, with long bleached hair brushed back from his face, lipstick, eyeliner, and blush to brighten his scowl.

The stolen packages were found in Bond’s car, along with packages that were reported stolen at other homes.

“We believe that the suspect had originally left the state, and we received information that they were possibly coming back into the state while we were sitting there lying in wait,” Parsons said.

“When we walked up and we placed them in custody, we looked inside the vehicle,” he added. “Lo and behold, we found the original packages that were stolen from Mobile.”

Bond had just been released from prison about six months prior to his most recent arrest.

He remains in jail ahead of a bail hearing Monday.
