It’s a bird, it’s a plane — it’s Buzz!
Giant balloons of four new animated character that will be featured in the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade took a test run above MetLife Stadium Saturday.
Pixar Animation Studios’ “Toy Story” star Buzz Lightyear was flying high in East Rutherford in his signature lime green, purple and white space suit — ready to make the 2.5-mile parade route on Thanksgiving Day that ends at Macy’s Herald Square.

Pac-Man, based on the Bandai Namco classic 1980 arcade game, was also at Saturday’s trial run –dubbed Macy’s Balloonfest — in celebration of the iconic character’s 45th anniversary.

Another beloved ’80s video game character, Mario by Nintendo, made his debut — in his signature red cap, red shirt, blue overalls and white gloves.
A popular ogre also made an appearance — Shrek, from the Universal Pictures’ Dreamworks Animation movie series, in the magical onion carriage he and his wife Fiona used to go on their honeymoon.

Character balloons were first introduced to the parade in 1927, just three years after its inception.
This year, the time-honored tradition will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.
