Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who left a woman dead and a man severely injured in the San Fernando Valley Thursday night.
The crash was reported shortly after 10:30 p.m. as the victims were walking across Foothill Boulevard, just north of Kael Canyon Street, in the Hansen Dam area of Los Angeles.
A driver in an early 2000s red Honda Accord traveling northbound on Foothill Boulevard struck both pedestrians and then failed to stop and render aid, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The woman, identified only as a 46-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The 40-year-old man suffered severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to the LAPD.
No description of the Accord driver was available.
“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull overand stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene toidentify themselves,” police said.
