HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — From Barbies to superheroes, your Halloween costume could actually say a lot about your personality.
Halloween is all about creativity, but your costume choice can also reveal clues about your mood, confidence, and even your mindset.
Dr. Sharzard Jalili, a clinical psychologist, says if you’re dressing as a superhero, that could mean you feel powerful or ready to take charge.
A funny costume could mean you’re the entertainer of the group, and if you go scary, it could mean you are trying to own a part of yourself that you usually suppress.
Jalali said costume choices aren’t as random as we think; a vampire or witch outfit could represent the darker, more confident side of your personality.
People who choose something funny or cute are typically the ones who love making others smile.
For some, their Halloween costume is less about disguise, and more about expressing themselves… even though it’s just for one night!
Halloween also gives us a chance to see how collective identity is shaped by media and myth, such as “K Pop Demon Hunters” or Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
Jalali said not dressing up can signal emotional fatigue or a narrowing your identity for adults.
Dressing up as an adult is actually a sign of psychological flexibility. It’s important to remember that dress-up and play isn’t childish; it’s the mark of emotional health.
The goal on Halloween isn’t to overthink it; it’s to have fun and be creative.
So this Halloween, your outfit might just be the ultimate personality test.
