Popular fast food chain SONIC is celebrating the grand opening of its first-ever San Bernardino restaurant next week — and the event comes with free giveaways, live entertainment, and a donation to local schools.
The drive-in, located at 715 W. 5th St., officially opens Friday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. Guests can take photos with SONIC’s mascot, Phil the Cup, and enjoy music and prizes throughout the morning.
To mark the occasion, the SONIC Foundation is donating $10,000 to support Orange County public schools through the education nonprofit DonorsChoose, which funds classroom projects submitted by teachers.
The new San Bernardino location features 10 drive-in stalls, a drive-thru lane, indoor dining and outdoor patio seating. It will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.
“We’re thrilled to bring SONIC’s craveable and iconic menu to San Bernardino, especially when it means bringing purpose to a site that’s been an empty lot for many years,” said franchise partners Devon and Clinton Wesselink in a statement.
The restaurant, operated by local franchise group Coast to Coast Commercial, brings about 75 new jobs to the area and marks the group’s 14th SONIC across Southern California.
